Dennis Johnson is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of diverse experience in security, government service, and project management. A 1985 high school graduate and Army Reserve veteran with nine years of service, Dennis has built a career rooted in discipline, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service.
For over a decade, Dennis worked in the security field, developing a deep understanding of safety protocols, risk management, and conflict resolution. His career trajectory shifted when he transitioned into government work as a housing inspector, where his expertise in compliance, regulations, and quality assurance quickly earned him a promotion to building inspector for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Over the years, Dennis has cultivated a comprehensive understanding of both residential and commercial infrastructure, ensuring that buildings meet the highest standards of safety and functionality. Dennis has also earned multiple certifications in building inspection, housing compliance, and safety management, which have further enhanced his skills and credibility in the field.
Currently, Dennis serves as a Project Manager with the Maryland National Park & Planning Commission, where he has excelled in overseeing and executing key development projects for the past 17 years. His role involves coordination across multiple departments, managing budgets, timelines, and teams to ensure the successful delivery of various initiatives that impact the local community.
Dennis is also a passionate advocate for driver education. He has developed and facilitated in-person workshops focused on raising the emotional and cognitive intelligence of motorists. His mission is to foster a culture of courtesy, patience, forgiveness, and self-control on the roads, striving to improve driver behavior and reduce road rage. By encouraging thoughtful and respectful driving, he believes that a collective conversation can significantly enhance safety and civility on the streets. In May 2022, Dennis received a Driving Improvement Certificate of Completion from the Maryland Department of Transportation, further reinforcing his commitment to promoting safe driving practices.
In addition to his professional work, Dennis is an avid music lover, a committed weight trainer, and an enthusiastic car aficionado. He is also dedicated to self-improvement, having spent two years studying public speaking with Toastmasters, honing his ability to communicate effectively with audiences. Dennis has received multiple certificates in leadership, public speaking, and project management, which have equipped him with the skills to motivate, educate, and lead others with confidence.
